1. Introduction
Refined quartz sand, quartz powder, is the use of high purity quartz ore processing, the product has a high grade (SiO2=99.82%, Fe2O3=0.37, Al2O3=0.072, CaO=0.14), white color, strong hardness (Mohs seven degrees or more).
Fine quartz sand is washed, broken and screened into various specifications of quartz sand, and the quartz powder produced has a unique smoothness and a fineness of more than 300 mesh. The main uses of fine quartz sand: for ceramics, enamel, precision modeling, chemical, paint, building materials, metallurgy, advanced glass, metal rust removal, polishing, water treatment and other users to provide raw materials and auxiliary materials. Fine quartz sand main specifications: 0.6-1.2 1-2 2-4 4-8 8-16mm particle size. (Can be produced according to customer requirements) quartz powder (with quartz sand), also known as silicon powder. Quartz sand is a hard, wear-resistant, chemically stable silicate mineral, its main mineral composition is SiO2, quartz sand color is milky white, or colorless translucent, hardness 7, brittle no cleavage, shell fracture, grease luster, density of 2.65, bulk density (20-200 mesh is 1.5). Its chemical, thermal and mechanical properties have obvious anisotropy, insoluble in acid, slightly soluble in KOH solution, melting point 1650℃.
2. Classification of quartz powder
Industrial quartz powder (sand) is often divided into: ordinary quartz sand (powder), refined quartz sand, high purity quartz sand, molten quartz sand and silica powder.
Ordinary quartz sand (powder) : SiO2≥90-99%Fe2O3≤0.06-0.02%, refractoriness 1750– 1800℃, the appearance of some large particles, the surface has yellow skin capsule. Particle size range 1-320 mesh, can be produced according to user requirements. Main applications: metallurgy, ink silicon carbide, building materials, enamel, cast steel, filter material, foam alkali, chemical industry, sandblasting and other industries.
Refined quartz sand (powder) : also known as acid-washed quartz sand, SiO2≥99-99.5%Fe2O3≤0.02-0.015%, selected high-quality ores for complex processing. Particle size range of 1-380 mesh, can be produced according to user requirements, the appearance of white or crystalline. Main applications: filter material, high-grade glass, glass products, refractory materials, melting stone, precision casting, sandblasting, wheel grinding materials, etc.
High purity quartz sand (powder) : SiO2≥99.5-99.9%Fe2O2≤0.005%, is the use of 1-3 natural crystal and high-quality natural stone, carefully selected, fine processing. Particle size range 1-0.5mm,0.5-0.1mm,0.1-0.01mm,0.01-0.005mm, can be produced according to user requirements. Main applications: high-grade glass, electronic filler, melting stone, precision casting, chemical industry, ceramics and so on.
Silica powder: SiO2:99.5%min-99.0%min, 200-2000 mesh, appearance of gray or gray white powder, refractomyness >1600℃, bulk weight :200~250 kg/cubic meter.
3. Application field of quartz powder
Quartz powder has a wide range of applications because of its high whiteness, no impurities and low iron content. Glass: The main raw materials of flat glass, float glass, glass products (glass jars, glass bottles, glass tubes, etc.), optical glass, glass fiber, glass instruments, conductive glass, glass cloth and special anti-ray glass.
Ceramics and refractory materials: porcelain embryo and glaze, high silicon brick for kiln, ordinary silicon brick and silicon carbide and other raw materials.
Construction: concrete, cementitious materials, road building materials, artificial marble, cement physical properties test materials (i.e., cement standard sand), etc.
Chemical industry: raw materials such as silicon compounds and water glass, filling of sulfuric acid tower, amorphous silica powder.
Machinery: The main raw materials of casting sand, grinding materials (sandblasting, hard grinding paper, sandpaper, emery cloth, etc.).
Electronics: high purity metal silicon, optical fiber for communication, etc.
Rubber, plastic: fillers (can improve wear resistance).
